Say it ain't so....

Remember last year when we went through hell and high water just to move 7 houses down the street?

Remember when we spent two months with contractors just to get our "new" house EXACTLY like we wanted?

Remember how I said, "I'm never moving again."

Well, I lied.

We're moving.

And not just down the street. We are leaving the neighborhood that I love, the community that I adore, the city that I've lived my entire life minus a 4 1/2 year stint in College Station, and family and friends that I don't know how I'll function without.

After 2 months of prayer and "hurry up and wait", and careful thought, Andy has accepted a job transfer to San Diego.

Oh, there could be worse places to go....but there also could be a lot less expensive places to go as well! =)

He will still be working for Shell but at their office in La Jolla, CA, just north of San Diego. Back in the day, before kids, I would tag along whenever he had a business trip to attend to business of my own.....like driving up the coast to one of my favorite places on earth...

and then stopping at Trader Joe's for some two-buck-Chuck and enjoying the view of Laguna Beach....
Yeah, there could be worse places to go....

So the next few months are going to be crazy. We have such mixed feelings about this. We're excited about what this means for our family and the adventures we'll have together....like actually getting to go outside in the months of May-September.

But....

I don't want to talk about what we're leaving behind.

It's four years. In four years, Addison will be entering first grade....and we will hopefully be back in this place that I love so much. And maybe I'll even be skinny.....or vegan....or liberal.....

Um, maybe not.

I don't know how she does it.

After getting rained out several times, we finally got to get together with Shannon and have some pictures taken. My little drama queen diva did not make this a pleasant experience for anyone.

I tried to come prepared this time with bribes.
After she was throwing a fit during the first picture, I promised her a snack if she would just look at the camera...once.

Well she got the snack and then my whole little plan backfired. She refused to let go of the snack pack, or the fruit snacks. It was a choice of either having her throw a hissy fit thus ending the photo session before it even started, or just not caring if the snack pack was in every picture.

I don't know how she does it. Shannon was still able to get a bunch of cute ones thanks to some creative cropping. I'm so sad that she's retiring from her gig. She is a fantastic photographer and I'm so glad that we've been able to get to use her over the last two years. Thanks Shannon!!!

This one will give you an idea of how the session itself went....you can see we're are actually holding Graham in place...during one pic I was so busy with little diva, that Graham actually face planted into the flower bed. Poor laid back second child.

Happy Father's Day!

Grandma and Papa came to visit this weekend and it was an extra special Father's Day to get to spend it with them. Addison just squealed as soon as she saw them....and Graham just appreciated the increase in ratio of adults to toddlers/baby meaning extra attention for him.

Of course we pulled the waterslide out.

And I enjoyed trying out some Pioneer Woman recipes that I've been meaning to eat make. I love her. I really do. Andy reminds me that she is from his neck of the woods being from rural Oklahoma. Ok, Ponca City isn't exactly rural, but close.

Anyways, the guacamole was awesome.
And had to throw a couple of pictures of cutiepatootie in there....

Addison led everyone is several renditions of itsybitzyspider.
And Papa and dad watched many hours of the US open....while I found a new obsession....
blurb.com.

I finally found a way to turn this blog into a hardback book that I'm so excited about. Check it out, but only if you have absolutely nothing that you need to be doing for the next few weeks. It will suck you in.

What we do when daddy's not home

Now someone grab some wipes before Andy gets home.

She may have gotten my voice

Addison loves to sing. She can hold a tune as well as I can, and that's sure not saying much. But it's cute all the same.

Here she is singing twinkle, twinkle, itsy bitsy spider, and Abc's.

I have a confession...

I have resorted to using this.....
on this....
because it is the only thing that allows me to continue to put off potty training, because trust me on this one...
She is not ready. And neither am I.

Let's Get out of the House

First let me start by letting everyone know that Andy is finally off of his crutches!!!
Can I hear an "Amen??"

He was so ready to get out of the house this morning. We decided to go up to the fountains at Market Street. This actually is not a small process to get 2 little ones loaded up with sunscreen, bathing suits, towels, extra change of clothes, swim diapers, little diapers, food, drink, etc...etc..

Doesn't she look ticked off? That's how I felt once we did all this and got out in the sweltering sticky mess that Houston calls summer...
But then she had fun for about 20 seconds...

And then had quite enough....
And so had poor, pitiful Graham.....ignore the rash on his face...it's one of those, "I promise, I'm not contagious, just pitiful looking" ones...

What I did not capture on film was the fit she threw after those 20 seconds of fun, me wrestling her to the ground, Andy and I arguing over the best way to get her cleaned up after throwing her fit in the grass, or us hobbling back to the car sweating and deciding that we would have been better off just staying in the air conditioning on the couch.

But at least we got out of the house.....

6 Months

How on earth did my baby boy get to 6 months so fast?? Here is what you've been up to Graham..

* You are sitting up for short periods of time and grabbing on to everything.
* You love your exersaucer, jumparoo, and pretty much any toy you can get your hands on.

* You are still such a cuddler and I LOVE snuggling with you.
* You smile, squeal, and laugh all the time but when you are unhappy, you let everyone know that as well!
* You love to eat and are eating about 2 solid meals a day....loving any kind of fruit or sweet potatoes.
* You are nursing about 5 times a day.
* You are sleeping through the night...thank you Jesus! You got to bed at 7 and wake up around 8 in the morning, or in the case of this morning....9:30!
* Taking an hour and a half nap in the morning and a 2-3 hour nap in the afternoon.
* Fitting into 6-12 month clothes
* Wearing size 3 diapers
*Still loving your paci or anything else you can get into your mouth.
Here are your stats munchkin!

Length: 28 inches (90%)
Weight: 16 pounds 12 ounces (25%)
Head: 17.5 inches (50%)

Long and lean like your sister.....now if only momma could get some of that!
Love you pumpkin!
