Survival

If you read the post directly below this...you know what we've been dealing with this last week.
Addison cried in her crib for THREE hours this afternoon fighting a nap when I knew she was exhausted.

So we are in survival mode.
I finally resorted to this....

Keep in mind that she has never used one or even really seen one since she was 3 months old!
Desperate times call for desperate measures....

I'll take sleep over an almost-two-year-old with a new appreciation for a binkie.

At least she'll have something in common with her little brother.....who I get to meet in 36 hours!

Sleep, Kid, Sleep!!

To echo, my friend, Mary's post....

We are having the same issue, but with a 19 month old. Addison has always been such a champion sleeper....our old "normal" was going to bed at 7, waking up at 8am. Napping for a good 2-3 hours each afternoon. Ahh...memories.

For the last week, she has refused to nap. Refused to sleep period. Except in the car. And we have resorted to driving around for 45 minutes just to get her some shut eye....ridiculous.

She used to love her crib and now when she gets put in it, she just wails and throws everything out....her lovie, blanket, and pillow. The kid is smart.....she can't sleep without them. Last night after waking up at 6am and not napping ALL DAY...I put her to be at 6:45. She immediately threw everything out. I let her carry on for 30 minutes before going back to put everything in..only be thrown out again. So out of "tough love", I let her wail about it for 3 hours. Andy and I finally went in there together at 10:30. She wailed when we put her back in the crib, but thankfully settled down and went to sleep.

As I'm typing this, she's wailing in her crib right now as I try to get her to nap. It's obvious the girl is EXHAUSTED.

And timing? yeah...couldn't be worse.

Graham will be here in less than 48 hours! I really don't need a non-sleeping toddler AND a newborn. Praying.....

Any suggestions? =)

Since we're having a boy....

I will take every opportunity to deck my girl out.

Since the temperature dropped below 60 today....I decided it was time to pull out the winter hat...

....and sweater dress, tights, and boots. And....she loved it! She seriously giggled as I put the boots on and refused to take off the hat for two hours.

And yes, that is a Christmas tree. We decorated for Christmas this weekend and didn't kill each other....a job well done!

Before I forget....

It's been a while since I've posted some pictures and to be honest, I don't have an excuse....except laziness.

I did want to share something sweet that happened today though. I have reached the 37 week mark, so we are going to Dr. R weekly now. I say we, because I'm carting Addison along, which can be quite a challenge since Dr. R (although I love him) is not known for punctuality.

Well today we're sitting in the small exam room waiting at 12:05 (my appt. was at 11). Addison had exhausted all use of goldfish, books, and cell phone. She was actually laying on the exam table with her head on her pillow with my standing beside her.

I'm getting to the cute part...

Well, without any prompting, she reaches for my shirt and lifts it up to expose the belly. She patted it to say hi and reached down to kiss it. I said, "Are you saying hi to Baby Graham?" She smiled and put her arms close to her chest like she does when she's showing how much she loves something and then patted my tummy again. It was too precious....especially for 19 months and me really thinking she had no idea what was going on.

Addison is also quite obsessed with remotes and TVs lately. She will say show repeatedly and loves watching TV with daddy.

The Great Debate...

UPDATE

Thank you so much for all of your comments. After praying about it, I really felt a strong peace about getting the shot, which I ended up getting on Thursday. I would like to get Addison vaccinated as well, but this shot is hard to find! If anyone hears/knows of where I can get a pediatric dose, please let me know. Since it takes a couple of weeks to take effect and Graham will be here in just about that time, the sooner, the better!

***************************************************

Ok, so normally I wouldn't post something like this, but desperate times call for desperate measures....

I am 36 weeks pregnant. My Dr. looked at me like I was crazy today for not having gotten the H1N1 vaccine yet. He has only a few doses left and told me I need to decide in the next day or so whether or not to get it.

I thought I had my mind made up not to get it, but now I'm all up in arms again. In order to best protect Graham when he gets here, he says not only do I need to be vaccinated, but everyone that would be around him....so that means Addison too.

He does have the Thermasol free ones available, so that makes me feel a little bit better. Aughhh! I just don't know what to do....so please, share your thoughts.

The Nursery!!

Well, with 3 weeks to go....yes, THREE!!! Graham's room is finally done. I'm really happy with how it's turned out. It's simple and CALMING, and let's face it....I'm going to need calming.

I can't believe how fast this pregnancy has flown. We're excited to meet our little guy, but I'm a little more nervous this time....I thought it was supposed to be the other way around!

This is what you see when you enter the room....I had the curtains made from ones I had in Addison's nursery mixed with an extra panel from the curtains in our bedroom.
The bed and letters.....Andy didn't realize how we were spelling it until he was hanging up the letters. Glad we cleared that one up.
Bedding

Looking from the closet at the dresser and glider
We can't wait to meet you little man!

How we roll on a Saturday

Donuts, milk and sunglasses.

She wouldn't take these things off for three hours...only took her 3 minutes to polish off the donuts.

Later, we drove to Pearland to celebrate cousin Eloise's 5th birthday. Her mom, Aunt Sarah to us, did an outstanding job of putting on this fairy party. The girls all loved it. Including our little Tinkerbell.
Check out the fairy fruit wands.
The older fairies....
And last but not least...the fairy cake!!
