stinkers

Last night I was hosting a Bunco night at our house.  Andy got home just in time as the girls started to arrive.  After the kids made their presence known, Andy took the kids upstairs to start the bedtime routine.  Us girls got down to the business of gabbing and pouring the wine.
All was quiet upstairs and I was quite impressed by Andy's knack for calming the crazy that had overtaken the downstairs just moments before.

After about thirty minutes I hear this HUGE LOUD banging coming from upstairs leading me to believe for a second that I was either A: finally experiencing my first earthquake or that B; our house was falling apart.

Every Bunco lady went silent and looked at me.
I looked upstairs and excused myself to go see what was was the heck was going on.

I thought I heard them all crying in Graham's room.
I opened the door, and Andy gave me a look like, "ITS ABOUT FREAKIN" TIME".

You see, Graham had locked all THREE of them in his room.
How could this happen?
Oh, because we being the responsible parents that we are turned the knob to his room around so that is locks from the outside....IN THEORY.

But Graham had somehow punched the lock and then closed the door....with all three inside.

And us girls were having a grand ol' time downstairs and hadn't heard the cries for help (from all three) or the window open from upstairs and Andy attempt to yell and throw stuff down to get my attention.
OOPS.

Well I assured him that this was such a blessing to have happened when I was home (paying attention or not)  instead of during the week at 8am with no one to rescue us while Andy was at work.
Can you imagine?

So yes, the rescue "key"is back in place above the door
because I'm sure these stinkers will give me reason to use it in the near future.

take a look

at little Miss Winslow.

I have switched over to a separate blog for my photography sessions, but I just wanted to share some of these pics from last weekend with my friends and family.

I've had so much fun getting my little business up and moving....it's an ongoing process....
but this is why I haven't gotten a chance to blog as much as I want to here.
It's been a little busy around here.

I'll be back soon, but in the meantime, take a look at the rest of the pictures of sweet Winslow and her family over here.

sweet life

I've been doing just fine on my weight loss until this week.
I think I ate more sweets over Valentines than the entire month of December.
Did you know that if you combine Betty Crocker peanut butter cookie mix with a heart reeses peanut butter cup, you get a disaster.  You get 24 amazing, ridiculous, take Weight Watchers hostage ...disasters.
It was worth it.

Before this week's festivities, we took a Sunday drive.  It was pretty cloudy, but still beautiful as always.

I was excited to try to grab some pictures with my camera, but apparently legit photographers were having the same idea.  I walked down to the beach to find these people in full on camouflage gear, with backpacks, tripods and hunks of electronics that I think have to be the god of the camera world with lenses three feet long.  It was crazy.  I took my few shots and got out of there.

Then on Monday, my friend, Annie....otherwise known as amazing party planner, put together a little Valentine's party for our playgroup.  My kids didn't mess around when it came to cookie decorating....or they made a big mess but ate lots of sugar in the process.

And I made the mistake of throwing out Addison's stash today....although I didn't admit it to her when she went looking for it today.  So baby girl, when you learn to read and you come across this post years later, yes, it was me and I take full blame.
But I can make you a mean peanut butter cup cookie to make you forget about it real quick.

and the random pic of the post....
Addison's recent etch a sketch art work.....she is really into drawing people lately.
This is Graham, in case you can't tell.

And I do have to brag on my husband who totally came through on Valentine's Day.
I have stopped expecting or even really hoping for gifts on a day that Andy has always complained is way over marketed.  He surprised me this year though by booking me for the La Costa Spa on Sunday.
My massage is at 2pm, but when you get a massage there, you get access to the resort for the entire day.
They open at 8:30 and I will be there with magazines, a huge smile on my face, ready and waiting at 8:29.

cookie decorating

The Valentine's fun kicked off this week with a little cookie decorating with some friends from Addison's school.  The kids were super excited to have full reigns of the icing and sprinkles and ate more than their fair share of sugar!

Camera dump catch up

Our week has been less than extraordinary around here.  We had just gotten over bronchitis and Catergory 5 colds, been given a glimpse of what normal life was like and returned to school for a day or two when the next bug hit.  The worst kind of bug.
So I haven't blogged much because no one wants to hear about all that.

So instead I've been playing catch up....like finally finishing my Blog book from 2010 that only took 10 months to complete.  I'm taking a breather before embarking on 2011.

In the meantime, I emptied my camera and found some pics to share.
Like this little guy.
and this picture that reminded me of a little "adventure" we had last weekend.
We had a free Saturday (we thought we were just getting over that little bug), so we decided to plow through naptime and go explore some different areas.  We headed to Coronado Island.
Andy had some work to do, so he decided to stay in the car with the kids while I explored the grounds of the Del Hotel.
I get a call about 30 minutes later to hear that our car is completely dead.

"Where are you?", I asked?
"I don't know....way too far for you to walk....I don't know what I'm going to do....kids are crying....I got to go...."....Click.

My phone was almost dead as well.  So while I was cursing the fact that our AAA membership had run out, I tried to think of what else I could do.  About nothing.
In my husband's words, it was "way too far to walk"so I decided to take in a few moments of peace before my next phone call.

The phone rang about two seconds later.
"Would you just come to the car???!!!  I need help!"
Um, I thought you said it was too far to walk....where are you?

He yelled out two cross streets before hanging up.....as I heard kids crying in the background.

I turns out that he was just a quick 3 block walk away......and was maaayyybe being a little dramatic.

When I got to the car, Addison was bawling and in a panic because..."the show is broken".....nevermind the fact, that the car won't turn on....she was only worried about how this would affect the completion of the movie she had been watching.

The movie she had been watching......
The movie she had been watching running down the car battery for the last 45 minutes.
Andy said he was trying to save gas.
Lesson learned.

All turned out fine when we flagged down a kind man who helped us jump the car and were up and running minutes later.

The next day we got ready for a friend's Super Bowl party.  I was so excited to be getting out of the house and socialize after been "sick bound" for what had seemed like forever.
And this girl looked healthy, right?
Let's go watch some football!!!!.....er, commericals
Still looking pretty healthy, huh?
We got to the party and had only been there about 30 minutes when Addison threw up all over my friend's parents' bathroom.
UGH.....for so many reasons.

So our week consisted of more stay at home activities, and lots and lots of shows.....& Clorox.

and just when Addison had FINALLY got back to normal,
it hit this guy.

here we go again

This girl can spike 104 fever like it's nobody's business.
Here's to a weekend of Disney movies and Childrens' Advil.
