Showered in Love

Last night we got to help throw one of my closest friends, Ashley and her husband, Ben, a baby shower for their daughter, Presley Kate due in May. We are so excited for them and know how much fun having a little girl is. Bring on the pink!

It was also a bit of a college reunion of sorts. You go through the wedding season where you see friends and catch up and then everyone starts having kids and staying busy and it's hard to get together. It was so much fun to see people...some we hadn't seen in nine years.

I got a chance to play around with some decorations and was so excited how everything turned out. Lisa and her husband, Chris hosted at their beautiful home with a backyard (not to mention location) that I am so jealous of. Taste of Texas catered the event so you know the food was outstanding!

Here is my second attempt at a diaper cake. Sheila and I had fun last week putting it together and I thought it turned out so cute. Excuse the picture overload.

More decorations....
pink marshmallows! Turned out so cute....easy idea if you ever need one for a shower or party.
I'm in love with this cake. The lavender matches Presley's nursery and the purse on top is from a print going in the room.

Appetizers....so yummy!
A little throwback to Cy-Creek. Jacqueline and Graham

The guest of honor...cute mama! Love you Ash!
All of the hostesses. The husbands were busy helping finish off the "beverages".
And two of my loves watching a little March Madness. Nothing to do with the shower, but sweet anyways.

Baby Book Brag

Ok if you're reading this, please keep in mind that this blog is the closest thing my kids will get to a baby book, so I am fully entitled to "brag" on their latest accomplishments.

Addison can now spell her name. Well, she can come close anyways....leaves out one D.

Could be all the leap frog, letter factory, baby can read DVD's and her chair with her name on it...but today I heard her saying..."A D I S O N....."Ason". I thought it was a fluke but then she did it again.....and again.

So we've been doing it all day. I might have to change the spelling of her name and take out the extra D...but none the less, I think she's brilliant.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME???

That was my response when Andy called me Monday night with "bad news".
It was definitely an all caps "ARE YOU KIDDING ME" response to this news.
Because...well, let me just show you and then explain.

and It's worse than it looks.

Let me back up a bit. Andy had just started back into his basketball intramural league. I wasn't thrilled because it just meant for an extra long day of bathing and putting both kids to bed on my own.

I had just finished the ordeal which took an hour and a half and was sitting down to finally eat at 8:20 when he called.

"I've got bad news."

I'm thinking....a double header game. No big deal, kids are in bed, I can have a nice glass of wine...
not so much.

"I think I tore my Achilles tendon." They're taking me to the emergency room.

Here comes my part..."ARE YOU KIDDING ME??!!!"

I hung up and went ahead an opened the bottle of wine. And maybe I had another glass after googling the injury.

Turns out that my husband will most likely be off his foot for a good four months. Yup. You read that right. He meets with the specialist today and will most likely have surgery early next week and then start the LONG recovery process.

You can fault me for not being too sympathetic if you want, but all I could and sometimes still find myself thinking about it how much of the day to day...and night...and weekend...childcare stuff will be up to me. Oh...and taking care of my third child, the patient.

I do feel sorry for him though because I know it sucks. I was in the surgical boot not so long ago...not fun.

As Addison would say...."&$%#". I mean "shirt". Yes, we've moved on from the mispronunciation of fork from the Target episode. She has found the "r" in fork but not in "shirt".

Speaking of Target....

Andy stayed home the day after his incident and insisted on going to Target with us. He waited in the cafe until a senior citizen returned a rascal and then used it to follow us around in the store. If that wasn't embarrassing enough....Addison enjoyed pointing out all of the "#&$#'s" we passed in the store. There are a lot of shirts in Target. Including this cute one I picked up.

Poor Graham was a little tired, but I was determined to get everything I came there for.

So that's how our week started. Good times.

In other more pleasant events...
Graham got to meet his great-grandmother this weekend. Sweet.

which made him very happy.

and cute...well he was already cute.

We also got to hang out with some sweet friends yesterday.

Callie and Ashley came over and brought their adorable kiddos.
We attempted a group shot but this is what we got.

Addison is totally into mommy's shoes lately...and my toothbrush unfortunately.

We have a lot of exciting events coming up....

Addison's birthday
Graham's baptism
Andy's surgery

Let the good times roll....

Best Month in Houston

Andy and I decided that March is the best month in Houston...at least weather wise...minus the pollen. It's also one of the few times a year where I can keep somethings of color in my yard without killing it. Gotta enjoy it while it lasts.

March is also the best month because of this great event that begins today...if I have to tell what event that is, then I have to say...I'm a little disappointed.

Alright, let's get to the pictures...because let's be honest, I don't have much to say. I'll let the cuteness speak for itself.

Kissing her brother...without any prompting from me!! So precious

Loves her new sand & water table, although it's driving me crazy because she keeps pouring one into the other. I know that's kind of the point, but the mess is killing me.
Cute right? It's cute at 4 in the afternoon, but not so much at 4 in the morning....or midnight...or 2am....great baby, terrible sleeper.

In my free time....

or the little I have anyway,
I'll be spending some time with this guy.

I would love to get some recommendations on a few good reads though.....

So please share, what are your three favorite books and what are you currently reading?

Target

Let me preface this story by telling you that Addison has had an explosion of words lately. She repeats absolutely everything that you say (dangerous)...and she constantly points and names everything she sees like she's trying to prove to you how much she knows.

So...

Today we went to Target. One of my favorite places by the way. We are standing in line to check out. The line is about 5 people deep and I have Graham bjorned to me...not too happy. So I'm waiting to get through the line while addison is just naming everything around her.

Then she starts yelling ...."Fork" but without the R and the "o" sounds more like a U. So I don't have to spell it out for you, she is yelling at the top her lungs the worst explicative. And I am thinking...."for the love....I don't even see a fork!!!"........"And then I spot what she's pointing at....

The eating area where on display is a huge plate with a fork and spoon. But she is still yelling.....LOUDLY....and everyone is looking at me, Lord only knows what they are thinking. "F&*#!" "F&*!"......

Yes honey, fork and SPOON.

"Yeah, F&*#" and spoooon" she says.

Brother, let me show you how it's done.

Look who's big time??

Graham got in the exersaucer for the first time today.

I don't know who's happier, him or mommy.

He had been in it less than 5 seconds before Addison wanted in.
She decided settling for showing him how it's done.
and then wanted him to talk on the phone
The view is so much better from here.

happy boy
and this chick is getting so big. I can't believe she's going to be 2 next month.
and stubborn is definitely her middle name.
She was having a fit trying to put on Daddy's house shoes.
and didn't think it was nearly as funny as I did.

3 months

Oh little man, I can't believe how big you're getting!

Here is what you've been up to lately:

*I haven't officially weighed you, but I think you are almost 14 pounds.
*You are easily fitting into 3-6 month clothes and definitely wearing size 2 diapers.

*You are not a big fan of naps but I am trying to get you to see how great they are.
*You are still being swaddled but probably not for much longer, and you still need your wubba to fall asleep.
*You are nursing about 6 times a day and twice at night (if I'm lucky). You did have one night where you slept from 8pm until 4am (let's do that again!!!)

*You love your play mat, tolerate your swing and hate your bouncer, unless it's in front of the TV
*You smile, laugh and talk to mommy so much! It's her favorite part of the day.

*Your sister wants everything that you have. She thinks that rattle you are playing with is the greatest thing ever and MUST have it to play with NOW....even though she hasn't wanted anything to do with these toys for over a year.

This is mommy's best attempt to get a picture with you and your sister, but she just went straight for the camera.
*You rolled over from your tummy to your back this week and much prefer it that way.

I am blessed to get to spend every day with you and your sister but by this time ...(the witching hour)

I am SO ready for your daddy to get home.
